The Child’s Play Reboot Gives Us a First Look at Chucky
For those that haven’t been following the news – Chucky is being rebooted. And the beloved Mark Hamill will be lending his voice to the creepy character.
Child’s Play is the title for the Chucky reboot, and fans just can’t get enough information about it. Lars Kievberg is directing the film, while Tylor Burton Smith is writing the script. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are the producers, while Aaron Schmidt takes the title of executive producer.
The main character, Andy is being played by Gabriel Bateman. Obviously, we already know that Mark Hamill is also involved, giving life to the focus of the franchise. Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Tim Matheson are also involved in the project.
Rumor has it that the movie is going to be taking a different take on the murderous doll. Chucky’s murderous rampages had once been explained away due to possession. Now we’re being told that Chucky is a monster thanks to his making. As in, the faulty technology within him. It’s likely going to have a bit of a Five Nights at Freddy’s feel, which can only add to the disturbing elements.
Of course, there’s a whole backstory for why this particular doll ends up as messed up as it is, but we won’t ruin all the fun by talking about it now. It is safe to say that they put a lot of thought into it though.
Mark Hamill took to Twitter to reveal the first look of Chucky. He gleefully shared a photo of his character, with the caption “He’s more than a toy…He’s your best friend! Your first full look at Chucky is here.”
