Netflix Just Revealed the First Look at Cursed
Netflix just released the first looks for their newest series, Cursed. And the set alone is worth talking about.
Cursed is based on a graphic novel series—one that just happens to not be out yet. The first novel is due out on October 1st. Check out Simon and Schuster for more information. It’s being written by Tom Wheeler. Meanwhile, Frank Miller is the artist on the project. Cursed is a reimagining of the classic Arthurian tale. It follows the young protagonist, Nimue, as she finally gets a chance to tell her side of the story. The series looks like it’s going to be fascinating. All thanks to the creative team and the new twist.
Netflix has been pretty on top of getting their hands on the rights to make adaptations. But this is one of the first times (if not the first time) they’ve managed to begin working on an adaptation before the graphic novel even hit the shelves. It’s fairly impressive.
Netflix’s adaptation of Cursed is scheduled to release in early 2020, which explains why we’re starting to see the first looks now. And it’s probably no surprise that both Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler have been pulled in as executive producers for the project.
Cursed is going to be a total of ten episodes in length, to start with. Without having our hands on the source material, it’s hard to say how likely it is that Netflix will renew it for another season.
Katherine Langford, best known for her role in 13 Reasons Why, landed the role of Nimue herself. And as you can clearly see in the first look, they’re working hard on running with the iconography of both her character and the setting itself.
