Spy Games In A Galaxy Far Far Away
Disney released the first trailer for the new animated series Star Wars Resistance. The cartoon focuses on new Resistance trainees learning the ins and outs of intergalactic espionage.
The Resistance Grows
Since The Last Jedi hit theaters, there is a growing divide among Star Wars fans. Some believe the films are pushing an agenda not present in Lucas’s original films, and others think they are continuing the proud Star Wars tradition. As Disney expands their reach across the galaxy, they branched out into television content. First, they aired Star Wars Rebels, an animated series set between Episodes III and IV. Their latest series, Star Wars Resistance, jumps ahead to the rise of The First Order. The show, set before the events of The Force Awakens, follows the exploits of Kazuda Xiono as he learns the ropes of spying on The First Order. Star Wars Resistance premieres Sunday, October 7th at 10 P.M. With October being merely two months away, Disney released the first trailer for the series. Check it out below!
Okay, so there’s not much to go on, but it does look like a spiritual successor to Rebels mixed with a little bit of Top Gun. The animation style is a cel-shaded CGI look that is reminiscent of films like A Scanner Darkly. Honestly, the show has potential. One of the chief complaints about the Disney Star Wars films is that they don’t have an expansive world or backstory. Resistance looks to change that. Furthermore, Star Wars animation veteran Dave Filoni is behind the series. Filoni’s name should be reason enough to give fans hope for the series. So, what do you think? Is Star Wars Resistance a winner? Or is it dead on arrival? Let us know in the comments below!
