The Force Awakens Deleted Scenes Revealed

Need more of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? The movie’s Blu-ray has you covered with seven deleted scenes. Featuring everyone from BB-8 to Kylo Ren, the deleted scenes represent a mere third of the footage that got excised from The Force Awakens’s final cut, but the scenes will fill in some plot blanks that fans have wondered about.

  • Finn and the Villager:

Set just before FN-2187 decides not to fire his blaster, this scene shows our favorite Stormtrooper helping his comrades round up the villagers on Jakku. Entertainment Weekly writes, “The conscience-stricken Finn comes face-to-face with a woman in the shadows of a small building. He raises his weapon … and makes a fateful decision.” If you want to know exactly what he decides, you’ll have to check out the Blu-ray.

  • Jakku Message:

For those of us who were hoping for more General Leia, we’re in luck. This scene from early on in The Force Awakens has the general receive a message from BB-8 about the attack on Jakku. Leia then must decide how she’s going to act. Game of Thrones’s Emun Elliott also pops up as a Resistance communications officer.

  • X-Wings Prepare for Lightspeed:

If you were disappointed by the fact that we didn’t get a lot of lightspeed in The Force Awakens, check out this deleted scene featuring Poe Dameron. He and his fellow Resistance fighters fly through space as they head for the attack on Starkiller Base.

  • Kylo Searches the Falcon:

Perhaps the most interesting of the deleted scenes is this one with Kylo Ren on the Millennium Falcon. While searching the spaceship on Starkiller Base, Ren finds himself overcome by old memories that try to pull him toward the Light side. Unfortunately, he also realizes his father is conspiring against him.

  • Snow Speeder Chase:

Wondering how Finn and Rey got from Starkiller Base to their snowy showdown with Kylo Ren? Wonder no more. The two hijacked a First Order snow speeder to make their escape, and this deleted scene proves it.

  • Finn Will Be Fine:

Quite possibly the most important of the deleted footage, this scene takes place back on the Resistance Base after Finn and Rey’s showdown with Kylo Ren. Before she leaves to find Luke Skywalker, Rey watches over her friend as he recovers from his injuries, and Downton Abbey’s Harriet Walton gives her an update on Finn’s condition.

  • Han, Finn, and Chewie vs. the Stormtroopers:

Unfortunately, this deleted scene will only be available in a digital version, but as long as you get The Force Awakens Blu-ray, you will also receive a free digital copy of the movie. After you download it, you can watch as Han, Finn, and Chewbacca come face to face with a group of Stormtroopers in Maz Kanata’s basement. Collider writes, “Han does what he does best and talks his way out of trouble, bringing just another scene of swagger to the iconic character’s long list of highlights.”

Additional features on The Force Awakens Blu-ray include a feature-length documentary on the making of the movie, the first cast table read, and features on the visual effects, creatures, and music of The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available April 1 digitally and on Blu-ray/DVD starting April 5th. The movie is currently available for pre-order.
