Gearbox Software CEO’s Assault Allegations

Gearbox Looks into Assault Allegations

It seems Gearbox’s Software CEO Randy Pitchford has not been doing well for himself. He is currently in a lawsuit claiming that he took around $12 million dollars from employees. That is not all either! He has been recently accused by voice actor David Eddings (Claptrap from Borderlands) of assault back in 2017. This all came out when Eddings was not to return as the voice “Claptrap” in Borderlands 3.

Gearbox Response

The company has been a little silent on the matter but Comicbook.com noted their response to the matter in an interview with PC Gamer. “Gearbox takes any and all claims of this nature very seriously and we will abstain from commenting on the allegations Dave is making because it is a personnel matter. We appreciate David’s contributions to the Borderlands franchise and have continued to assert we would welcome him back into the mix as the voice of Claptrap and other future opportunities.”

If or when this will affect Borderlands 3, set to be released in September of this year is yet unknown. There is obviously a lot going on internally in the company and Randy Pitchford. It is also noted that Pitchford did call Eddings “bitter and disgruntled” about not coming back as the voice of Claptrap. After Pitchford said that is when Eddings came back with the assault allegations.

Obviously, Gearbox seems to be waiting on the judicial system to make a permanent statement. Either way, this is a very serious situation. If Pitchford did assault Eddings back in 2017 then it is big trouble for him. If Eddings is just trying to get back at his former employer it is also a serious thing for him as well. No matter what looks like Pitchford won’t be around long. With this controversy and the whole 12 million dollar lawsuit, Pitchford probably isn’t hanging around Gearbox.
