Netflix is Creating Their Own Anime Based on Greek Mythology
Netflix is working on yet another original series, and this time it’s going to be another anime. It’s going to be based on Greek mythology, believe it or not! It will be called Gods and Heroes.
Gods and Heroes
Gods and Heroes plays off several common themes among Greek mythology. The main character is the illegitimate child of Zeus—one of many, I’m sure. He’s an outcast where he’s grown up, but likewise, he can never truly be accepted by the gods. Especially when Zeus’ wife is putting the blame of the affair on his shoulders.
Despite all of this, our young hero will be given an opportunity to save both heaven and Earth. Who could ever pass up that opportunity? It’ll be a dangerous journey, and will hopefully give us many memorable scenes along the way.
Behind the Scenes
There is no official trailer or release date for the series as of yet. We have managed to find out a decent amount about the series, despite its relatively early stages. We can expect the first season to be eight episodes long, based on the order that Netflix put in for it.
Some of the most exciting news is the production company—Powerhouse Animation. They’re the ones that are behind Castlevania, a wildly successful series based off a video game. Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides are the creators of the series itself.
We already have a good idea of the cast involved as well, believe it or not. Jason O’Mara (The Man in the High Castle, Wakefield) is the voice of the main character. Other actors involved in the project include Mamie Gummer (True Detective, Out of Blue); Derek Phillips (Friday Night Lights, Longmire); Chris Diamantopoulos (The Three Stooges, Justice League Action); Jessica Henwick (Silk, Iron Fist); Melina Kanakaredes (Providence, Snitch); Claudia Christian (Babylon 5, Atlantis: The Lost Empire); and Elias Toufexis (Star Trek: Discovery).
