“There are two types of beings in the universe: those who dance and those who do not.”
The first teaser trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was just released yesterday on YouTube, and though it’s only a minute and a half long, it’s enough to get your booty shakin’ with excitement.
The biggest piece of news is that the movie teaser shows the entire gang is back on board: Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel).
Unfortunately, it is a tad difficult to discern the movie’s plot from the teaser alone. The trailer features several snippets including Gamora running toward battle, while her half-sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) is revealed to have some new headgear. Yondu (Michael Rooker) walks alongside Rocket, now sporting a red Mohawk like his comic-book counterpart. Lots of blue-faced aliens fly through the air, looking ornery. And Drax advises Quill to find someone “as pathetic” as he is, rather than obsess over Gamora.
It is clear, however, that the first movie’s sense of humor will continue in the second volume, along with the soundtrack of Quill’s childhood. The teaser features Blue Suede’s “Hooked on a Feeling,” which was one of the 1970s hits on the mix-tape Quill’s dying mother gifted him before passing.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy was a success when it hit theaters in 2014, so fans are anxious to know if Vol. 2 will be equal in caliber. The teaser looks promising, so I’m hoping we can expect Quill and the gang to show us the time of our lives next spring.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release May 5, 2017.
