Guest Checks Kickstarter

If you are like me you get a bit excited when your waiter draws a little picture just for you on your check.  Being from New York City I also know that  a lot of waiters are just artist, models, actors, etc waiting for their big break.  John Williams knows exactly what that is like having been waiter for twelve years before becoming a full time artist.

This is what motivated him to begin his Kickstarter campaign for Check Please! A Collection of Art on Guest Checks. The product, when completely funded, will be a 90-page, full-color, hardback book that will feature art on restaurant checks provided by over fifty very talented artist.  Artists include: Skinner, Dave Correia, Cody Schibi, Emonic, C.B. Canga, Ken Davis, Super Ugly, Dave Dwonch, JoeMur, and Robert Bowen among many others.

Check Please! draws it’s roots from Guest Checks, a blog which features art drawn on, you guessed it, guest checks and has been featured on many food sites as well as the Huffington Post.  If you would like to check out some of the checks to see what you can expect for the book you can still check out John Williams’ blog.

The project is looking to raise fifteen thousand dollars by Saturday, October 12th, 2013 to cover the cost of printing and shipping the book.  The lowest tier donations will get you things like desktop wallpaper, posters, your name on the Guest Checks website, a mini-print, and a digital copy of the book.  While larger donations will get you a physical copy of the book, shirts, original art that is featured in the book, a drawing of any pop-culture character done by Williams.  The largest donation tier at $300 gets you everything, plus the kitchen sink, on top of everything that you would get with the other pledge tiers you would also receive an original Sculpted Guest Check by Jay222.

It is always nice to see what new and exciting projects are on Kickstarter and this is book is one of the special ones.
