Variety reports that Falk Hentschel will be strapping into the Nth metal harness of Hawkman for both Arrow and The Flash this fall. Hentschel has been seen in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Transcendence, White House Down and Reckless.
Hawkman, aka Egyptologist Carter Hall (sometimes aka Thangarian soldier Katar Hol…don’t ask), in the comics is the reincarnation of the Egyptian prince Khufu, who was blessed to harness the powers of the god Horus to fight evil. In other versions, the prince found an alien craft and created gear from the mysterious Nth metal that the ship was made of. Hawkman is a master warrior, preferring ancient weapons along with the ability of flight thanks to his winged harness. He has come back over 2000 years, in various reincarnations, always fighting the eternal struggle of good versus evil. At the same time, his love interest reincarnates to fight crime alongside him. In this lifetime, that woman is Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), wh0 first appeared in the season finale of The Flash.
Hentschel’s Carter Hall will appear on both Arrow and The Flash this season as a reoccurring character. As Kendra is set to be an important character in the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow spinoff, Hawkman might play an important role in setting up the spinoff from the other shows. Given that he and Kendra are fated lovers, it is yet to be seen how she’ll react to his advances. Fans of the Justice League cartoon might find parallels between this and a series of classic episodes from the cartoon.
Arrow and The Flash are set to return this October on the CW. Legends of Tomorrow is set to be a mid season replacement in the 2015-2016 season.
