Sean Bean Spilled the Beans on an HBO Game of Thrones Reunion Special
Sean Bean recently let slip that HBO put together a sort of reunion for the cast of Game of Thrones and shot a special episode with everyone, past and present. Bean has not been on the show since the first season in 2011 when he played the beloved and honorable Eddard (Ned) Stark.
The studio filmed the special in complete secrecy, hosted by Conan O’Brien. Even though Bean spoke about the reunion, HBO has yet to actually confirm it to viewers. It does answer the burning question for fans spotting old cast members in Belfast while the show was wrapping up. Evidently, Jason Momoa’s presence started a whirlwind of rumors about what the upcoming season had in store. This is a slightly less exciting reason than fans were hoping for him being there.
In His Words
Sean Bean told THR, “They decided to get all the characters together for a bit for this big show in Belfast…Conan O’Brien did this thing, it was the last episode, so we all got together. It’s funny with work, you don’t really keep in touch. You do so many types of jobs in that part of the world. It’s just like whenever I see old friends or even old drama school friends, it’s just the same, we pick up where we left off last time.”
Don’t Hold Your Breath, Though
Honestly, there is no guarantee that this special will air, since HBO has yet to confirm it. Total secrecy has always been key for the production of this massively popular show. According to Sophie Turner, the cast even shot fake scenes to throw off any surprise paparazzi showing up to the set.
HBO is keeping so much under wraps. They have not even revealed when exactly the six-episode final season will air. All we know so far is that it will air in the first half of 2019. So, anywhere between January and June. Hopefully, we’ll know more by the end of the year – about the upcoming season and if we get to see a gorgeous reunion of the Stark family.
