Hemsworth Battled to Keep Thor’s New “God Bod”

Lebowski Thor

It seems Thor’s new bod was not supposed to be for the entirety of Avengers: Endgame until Chris Hemsworth fought to keep it. According to Comicbook.com Thor’s more rounded body type was only supposed to last for the first half of the movie. That is until Hemsworth, who dubbed the new style “Lebowski Thor”, urged to keep it for the entire film. Now Thor’s new bod has been breaking the internet and has caused quite the discussion online.

No Abs, No Problem

Definitely Lebowski Thor

As noted from an interview with Variety, Chris Hemsworth really enjoyed this “new” version of his character. “I like that anything goes. You’re not locked into expectations,” Hemsworth said of his Lebowski Thor. “I enjoyed that version of Thor. It was so different than any other way I played the character. And then it took on a life of its own.”

This goes right along with Chris Hemsworth being reinvigorated with the character after Thor: Ragnarok. The third Thor gave the actor much for invigoration for the character and he was noted to want to play the character much more in the future. Branching the character into a new direction and banking on Chris Hemsworth‘s comedic timing has been great.

The new heavy-set Thor also opened up discussion online. Are we making light of Thor’s depression? Are we “body shaming” Thor? These are some good topics to delve into. But, I mean, we are also talking about a movie with a talking raccoon. So, I don’t think we can take anything too seriously.

Odin

I, for one, like the new, more “robust” look for Thor. If or when he takes over for Odin he has to have the look, and he is basically there now. It also gives Thor that “powerlifter” type build which seems to fit the character a little bit more. The powerlifter body seems to fit the character a little more. It has given him that little, rougher/tougher look, in my opinion.

What did you think of Thor’s new look in Avengers: Endgame? Did you like it? Are you glad they stuck with it throughout the whole film? Do you think he should keep it for future films? Let us know in the comments.
