San Diego, CA (July 14, 2012) – IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon are excited to announce the launch of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ANNUAL 2012, a 48-page jam packed story written by co-writers Tom Waltz and Kevin Eastman, and drawn by co-creator Eastman. It’s been nearly 20 years since Eastman has created a full TMNT story, but fans will relish this Annual filled with non-stop downtown action and mayhem that is well worth the wait!
Attention all TMNT fans!
Due to be released this coming October, this latest addition to the TMNT comic book reboot is 48 pages fully colored pages of what promises to be mutated terrapin goodness. Centering around the dynamic duo of Raphael and Casey Jones as they embark on their own escapade and then get drawn into a gang-related situation that went awry.
I for one am excited to get my hands on this treasure when it comes out, not just because it will be the perfect addition to my collection, but because of the Raphael/Casey dynamic of which I am a fan. Seriously, what do you get when you put a vigilante and a hot-head together?
The action of a Tarantino flick combined with the humor of a buddy comedy.
However, there’s no need to worry. While the main story will revolve around Raph and Casey, Leo and the others will not be far behind. After all, with all the trouble Raph and Casey have a knack for getting themselves into, they’ll undoubtedly need the fearless leader, the brains, and the prankster that are Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo to bail them out. If that equation alone wasn’t enough of a guarantee that Leo, Donnie and Mikey would be making an appearance, then the fact that this is a TMNT comic should be all the promise you need.
After all, you can’t very well have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book with only one of the turtles gracing the pages, now can you?
Of course not!
And I haven’t even told you the best part…
Aside from Kevin Eastman completely taking the helm on the drawing side of things, this comic book will only further add to the rich story that IDW has created throughout the course of the reboot. This means that an already awesome comic book will only get better…if that’s even possible.
“After nearly 20 years I find myself once again fully engrossed in the wonderful mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and having the absolute best time in my life!” said Eastman. “The intense creative energy flying around between IDW and Nickelodeon is when this idea was inspired and born, so with this incredible team, I’m back on the drawing board–hanging with the boys, knocking out a full blown epic–and it is AWESOME!”
Suffice to say, I am beyond excited about this comic book’s approaching publication, and I can’t wait until I’ve got a physical copy of it in my hands! October can’t get here fast enough!
