The Year Without Marvel: WandaVision’s Release Set for 2021

In case you haven’t noticed, 2020 has been painfully lacking in Marvel movies. Granted, there’s a good reason for that. Now, it seems like it truly will be the year without MCU, as WandaVision is set to release in 2021.

WandaVision is one of several Marvel series set to launch directly to Disney+. It’s already turning out to be a popular platform, thanks to shows like The Mandalorian. With all the new shows heading to Disney+ in the very near future, it feels like the streaming service is bound to grow exponentially.

The show stars Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision). Here’s a key point to focus on: the timing. WandaVision is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame. That speaks volumes about the potential of the series. It also hints at a few beloved plot arcs from the comics. (Hint: look up House of M.)

If you’ve seen the events that occur in Endgame, then you know very well why fans have been so anxious to see what happens to this ill-fated couple. The trailer certainly didn’t hurt things, as the style and writing for WandaVision is already looking to be amazing.

Release

One can imagine that the wait has been a rough one. WandaVision was one of the first shows that Disney+ promised fans, back when the platform was first announced. And as a community, we have been waiting for quite some time now. So, here comes the bad news.

Until recently, fans strongly believed that WandaVision would drop sometime in late 2020. Realistically, that meant December, at this point. That’s taking into account all of the pushbacks happening, mind you. Well, it looks like those predictions were wrong.

Instead, fans can expect an early 2021 release. So mark your calendars: January 15th is the date to watch out for. So only a month later than expected. All things considered, it absolutely could have been worse. This will be following other big releases, such as Pixar’s Soul, which will be available on Christmas Day. Not to mention The Mandalorian Season 2, which will be wrapping up in December. At least there will be no overlap on that front.

Stay tuned for more WandaVision and Marvel news!
