The Film That Never Happened
After 14 years of waiting Jeepers Creepers 3 was finally released to theaters. The third entry in the cult series was released on September 26, 2017 as a one night fathom event. Fans of the series had patiently waited to see the follow up to the ending of the last film; which showed the Taggart’s waiting for a winged bat from hell to rise again. Writer and Director Victor Salva confirmed numerous times that the film would be set 23 years after the first two entries.
The film was called Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, and it was set to have Trish Jenner (Gina Philips) return to team up with Jack Taggart Sr. (Ray Wise) and his son Jack Taggart Jr. to hunt down The Creeper. The script for that concept has been circling online for quite some time. Early concept arts that line up with the script are circling as well. These images from the early stages of Jeepers Creepers 3 come from a blog Victor Salva had a few years back where he shared his film making experience.
What Does the Art Show?
The two images reveal characters named Rowan, and Greg existed in the story. It also showed that they would play into the presumable final confrontation with The Creeper. The images illustrate Rowan charging at the creature with a severed arm; that is described as holding a C4 ready to detonate. The arm presumably belongs to Greg who does not make it out alive during the encounter with The Creeper. These images are legit because they were shared by Victor Salva on his personal blog a few years ago. Additionally, for those that have read the script for Cathedral; you can put these images side by side with the words on the script toward the very end to see how they match up perfectly.
While these images are quite interesting it appears that Trisha, and Jack Taggart would not have factored into the final battle. How Rowan and Greg came into contact with the monster will forever remain a mystery unless Jeepers Creepers 4 ever sees the light of day. Jeepers Creepers 3 ultimately ended up being set in between the first two entries, and fans were a bit disappointed. After waiting for so long they didn’t get the film they were promised, but actor Jonathan Breck who portrays The Creeper has gone on record saying Victor Salva transformed Cathedral into a one season TV series. Gina Philips has also confirmed that Victor has written what happens 23 years after the first three films. However, no progress has been made on the series since the release of the 3rd film. Only time will tell if another entry in the controversial horror series will materialize.
