Justice League vs The Fatal Five: Coming to a Universe Near You
The new Justice League vs The Fatal Five trailer is here and I’m beyond hyped! I know I’m a tad bit late on this, but let’s remember what Albert Einstein once said, “Time is relative, especially if you’re hyped for Justice League vs The Fatal Five to drop on DC Universe!” He didn’t say that? Oh well, here’s the new trailer:
A Closer Look
The new animated film is produced by Bruce Timm—yes, the legendary Bruce Timm—and directed by Sam Liu, who most recently directed the DC animated film Reign of the Supermen. Now, if you don’t know those two men, they are powerhouses in DC Animation. Just take a look at their IMDb pages and scroll through their credits. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Done? Okay, let’s continue! The trailer opens with Star Boy (Elyes Gabel), from the Legion of Superheroes, flying through space chasing the Fatal Five’s for-some-reason-spherical spaceship on course for Earth. Before a young boy is pulverized by the spaceship, good ol’ Superman (George Newbern) and the story begins to put a Limelight on Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern (Diane Guerrero)…
See what I did there? Because her code name is Limelight… Moving on.
Then the Justice League and the Fatal Five come face-to-face and… you watched the trailer, hopefully, so you get it where it goes from there.
What I want to focus on is how DC, again, is creating original content for their streaming service. When the service first launched there was hesitance in the fandom. No one knew how much content would be available on the service, if the original content would be up to the standards of the fans, and if it would even be worth the asking price of $7.99 per month. With a few months under its belt, I think it’s safe to say that the DC Universe service is worth every penny. You get all their original animated movies, all-new original content (with four new shows premiering this year, a slew of comics from every era of DC, and the launching of all their new animated films first.
I don’t know about you, but I’m more than excited for Justice League vs The Fatal Five. Not only is it letting one of my favorite characters, as in Jessica Cruz, step into the Limelight… (see what I did there, again?) I get to enjoy a new animated film from some of the most prolific storytellers when it comes to DC.
