Sackhoff To Be Blacksmith In The Flash Season 4
Katee Sackhoff, most famous as Starbuck in the reboot of Battlestar Galactica, is coming to Central City. The genre actress and fan favorite will be coming to season 4 of The Flash to menace the Scarlet Speedster as Blacksmith, aka Amunet Black. She will be a recurring villain for the season, though it is not confirmed whether she will be the primary villain.
Blacksmith was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver shortly after Barry Allen’s return in the wake of Final Crisis. Blacksmith was a black market dealer for supervillains but aspired for more power and prestige. This diabolical woman with the power to control and manipulate machines along with organic matter even took control of the Rogues for a time.
Sackhoff will first appear as Blacksmith in the fifth episode of the season. Also, guest starring in the episode, Arrow star Emily Bett Richards as Felicity Smoak. The episode is tentatively titled “Girls Night Out” and will air in November.
From Space To Central City
Sackhoff has been a mainstay in genre programming ever since her starring role on the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. Since then, she’s been on various shows ranging from CSI to Star Wars: The Clone Wars to Nip/Tuck. She is also a reoccurring voice actress for Robot Chicken. She is currently co-starring in the Netflix series Longmire.
This is not Sackhoff’s first time playing a villainous role, despite usually playing heroes. She was an antagonist in the final season of 24, as well as being the villain in the short-lived reboot of The Bionic Woman. This is not her first go-round with a DC Comics property either, as she voiced Det. Sarah Essen in Batman: Year One.
The fourth season of The Flash will premiere on October 10th. Stay tuned to Word of the Nerd for more DC television news.
