Logan, the next film in the 20th Century Fox X-Men franchise, is currently doing extremely well in pre-sales, according to Deadline. It is beating every single X-Men ensemble film at its current rate.
How Do Logan’s Sales Compare to the Other X-Men Films:
So far, it looks like Logan‘s box office numbers are going to overtake all of the ensemble X-Men films that have been released thus far. This is largely due to the huge number of pre-sales. The only movie released thus far that Logan is not beating in this sale cycle is last February’s Deadpool. Experts say that it looks like Logan will have the second highest opening of all the X-Men films to date, only failing to beat the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
It seems that the solo X-Men films do better than the ensemble ones for whatever reason. The news will be good for Gambit, which is scheduled to star Channing Tatum as Gambit, should it ever escape from the development hell in which it is currently trapped.
More about Logan:
Logan stars Hugh Jackman as the eponymous character, who is better known as Wolverine. This film was designed to be that character’s swan song, and Jackman has confirmed that he no longer wishes to play Wolverine. Logan will also star Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Dafne Keen as Laura, who is also known as X-23. Patrick Stewart has also confirmed that this will be his last film in the X-Men franchise. Laura has a lot of the same powers as Wolverine does, since she was experimented upon in the same way, and may end up somewhat taking his place in the franchise.
Logan opens in theaters this weekend, on 3 March 2017.
