Luke Perry’s Final Riverdale Episode is Airing This Week

Riverdale is Going to Air Luke Perry’s Finale Episode on Wednesday

Riverdale announced that it was going to be airing Luke Perry‘s final episode this week. The episode can be expected to air on Wednesday.

Luke Perry

Last month the world lost another beloved actor, when Luke Perry passed away. He was only 52 years old, and the cause has since been attributed to a stroke. The surprise shook the Riverdale community, as well as friends and family of the actor.

Since Luke Perry’s passing was anything but expected, fans are unsure of how the show will handle his absence in future episodes. It’s like that the writers and directors have been working frantically to come up with a solution that will appease the fans, while still be respectful to Luke Perry’s memory. Still, it should be interesting to see what they come up with.

The Announcement

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took charge of the announcement, by taking it to social media. He was very respectful, which isn’t terribly surprising. He wrote on Twitter: “This week’s Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…”

Fans did not hesitate to share their emotional reactions to the Twitter announcement. That is both the good side, and the downside, of an announcement made through social media. Thankfully most of the comments this time around were focused on the loss of Luke Perry (and/or his character).

Some of the fans opted to share memes, images, or gifs of the lost actor. Other fans shared their favorite moments of Luke Perry’s character. While others jumped straight to theorizing how the show will handle things long term. But only time will tell how the writers will sort this complex problem.

What are your favorite moments? Let us know in the comments.
