In Memory of Christine Cavanaugh

Christine CavanaughToday we heard of the sad news that the incredible voice actress, Christine Cavanaugh passed away at the age of 51.

Christine, who was born in 1963 in the city of Layton, Utah is best known for being the voice behind much-loved cartoon characters. Iconic cartoons characters at that. She was often picked for her scratchy voice which were to become the voices of cartoon legends.

She is best known for the following:

The boy genius with the red hair, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory which began in 1996 and ran till 2003. Dexter’s Laboratory was also nominated for 4 Primetime Emmys and was up for many more awards.

Chucky from Rugrats, which was the childhood cartoons of thousands (and more) throughout the 90’s. Rugrats began in 1991 and lasted till 2004. It was nominated 6 times for Primetime Emmys.

Her catolog of voices she provided throughout her career is truly impressive. Sonic the Hedgehog, Cave Kids, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Recess and The Powerpuff Girls to name a few. To view her career is to see the childhood of many.

She was the voice begin the little pig, Babe. Created back in 1995, Babe is a beloved childhood film full of good, heart warming feelings. It won the Oscar for Best Effects, Visual Effects, while winning another 19 awards including a Golden Globe. It was nominated a further 17 times.

It is certainly a sad day, but we will remember this talented and wonderful woman for bringing many of us, if not all, to tears with some of the funniest TV animations out there.

I feel as though today is a day to binge watch any of these shows in dedicated to Christine.

We all thank you. May you Rest In Peace (and thank you for teaching us the power of omelette du fromage)

Marceline Hallows

Marceline is from the south of England in a little sea side town. Being brought up with Star Trek, she was never given the chance to be 'cool' like the other kids. Her other obsessions include cartoon shows, gaming and teaching herself to paint (which means her house is full of Star Trek paintings). Kept company by her annoying, laptop sitting pets and unusual amount of Data figures, she spends her days making excessive gifs, and her nights staring at the stars wondering what is out there.
