When you enter a marvel movie, especially one that is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s one thing everyone knows they need to do, stay after the credits. It’s become the norm nowadays that you have to wait or else you’ll miss the after-credit scene (or scenes in some cases). Most of the time they’re there to promote the next film in the series, or in the MCU’s case the next film in the MCU. Sometimes it’s both (like the case of Ant-Man which had two post-credits scenes, one promoting Evangeline Lilly’s Hope while teasing Ant Man and the Wasp and the other was a small sneak peek into Captain America: Civil War.
Possibly 5 Post-Credit Scenes
The next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, the sequel to the popular 2014 futuristic movie starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillian and the voice-talents of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. According to the AV Club,Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 wants to change the rules of the game once again by having not one, not two, but five post-credits scenes. The rumor was that it had four post-credits scenes as Screenrant had posted an article following the early press screenings of the movie, but then director James Gunn tweeted them that the correct number was five scenes.
Five post-credits scenes might seem a bit excessive but this is the same series that in their past movie had a post-credit scene featuring Howard the Duck. So it’s easy to say no one really knows what to expect from them. The Screenrant article claims that most of the post-credits scenes are equally silly but that some of them are actually important to the narrative. They wrote that “at least two of the five sort of set up important and cool things for the future.” It’s anyone’s guess as to what those two might include.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.
