HBO Casts Naomi Watts as the lead in the Game of Thrones Prequel
Through long negotiations, HBO finally decided on Naomi Watts to star in the Game of Thrones prequel pilot, and lead the new ensemble. The pilot got the green light in June. This is the first cast announcement so far. Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin are putting the show together, as it is based on a story they worked on together and takes place about 8,000 years before Game of Thrones. Goldman will serve as showrunner and executive producer with Martin.
What We Know About the Plot
This story is going to be totally different from the Westeros we know. It will show fans the history of the world from its Golden Age to its darkest times, what we are watching now. We will find out the dark mysteries of Westeros history, from the origin of White Walkers to the Starks of legend and the strangeness of the East. Watts will play a charming society member with a shadowy secret. We also know that none of the actors from Game of Thrones will appear. This show will be entirely separate and is meant to feel different from what we know.
