Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage
Naruto is one of those franchises that needs no introduction. Either you love it, or we can’t be friends.
For anyone that has kept up with Naruto over the years, it is hard not to love everything about him. From watching him as an outcast child to seeing him grow up into the Hero of the Fourth Great Ninja War to becoming the Hokage, I felt a deep connection to Naruto. By the end of the show, I felt I was a villager in Konoha who got to see Naruto grow.
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage is a new mobile game from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Ninja Voltage takes us through a familiar story. The missions quickly recap events from the show starting at Naruto Shippuden. The game is apparently planning to take us all the way through the Fourth Great Ninja War, and then into the story of Boruto. Right now the story does not go very far at all. There are five chapters in the game so far. Each chapter has a varying amount of missions, some have three missions while some have five.
The story is a very brisk overview of events from the anime and by no means is a substitution jutsu for how awesome the show is! That was a good pun… laugh!
The combat is a lot of fun. You get to control a character and run around square battlefields dodging traps and beating bad guys, once you clear an area you move on to the next. You get to fight Ninja, Ninja Dogs, Ninja Slugs, Ninja Frogs, Ninja Traps, Ninja Fans, Ninja Springs and more Ninja stuff! Really, what else could you want out of a game!
You gain different Ninja very quickly. There is a summoning mechanic in Ninja Voltage, just like in most cellphone games. Instead of summoning Ninja, you summon cards. Each Ninja holds cards that make them more powerful and even give them Jutsu! So, though you might have your favorite Ninja, you will have to do a lot of summoning to get their best Jutsu. Just from playing through the story and logging in, soon you will have over ten Ninja.
Right now the game is also doing a special promotional which gives you a free Boruto and Sadara! So it is worth downloading right now!
I have played a lot of Naruto games over the years. From Naruto: Clash of Ninja to Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. There have been a lot of fun and a lot of bad games to be released for Naruto over the years. I was expecting very little from a Naruto cellphone game.
I have said it before, in another review, the cell phone game market is saturated with copied and pasted gameplay under different skins. Even huge franchises, like Marvel or DC, release copied and pasted gameplay games just hoping to rake in a few easy bucks.
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage did not feel like that. It felt like a fan wanted to make a game that stood out and gave other fans a great, fresh game to play! I was very surprised to get a fun and innovative game! Not to mention the graphics of this game are amazing!
Now, excuse me, I need to go dig through some boxes and find my Hidden Leaf Headband.
