Nerds and gaming tend to go hand in hand, that’s pretty much common knowledge these days. Your stereotypical nerd tends to lack social skills, is fairly introverted and enjoys their own company, usually indoors, playing games or reading books. It’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of, that’s for sure. Everyone’s different after all, right?
Nerd culture is generally associated with the gaming community. Of course, nerds enjoy all types of games, though, with the chance to experience the Grand Slot at Casino.com still an appealing proposition, or the opportunity to beat people at FIFA 19 or ride around the wild west on a horse in Red Dead Redemption, but nerd games tend to rise to the top. Nerds like nerdy games – who’d have thought it?!
With that in mind, we thought we’d take a look at some of the nerdiest games ever created.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Described by some as the best game of 2014, Dragon Age: Inquisition is a combat game which styles itself after Dragon Age II but is a vast improvement on its predecessor. The return of the map is a welcome addition and the fact that the game involves a lot more strategic and tactical decisions will hook many players to it. Heck, you can even take a picture as you slay a dragon. What’s not to like?!
Resident Evil 7
A fairly scary game to play (probably best to leave the lights on), any Resident Evil game is an absolute must-play. But with Resident Evil 7, you’re being put into first-person perspective making the game an enthralling and frankly terrifying play. The game certainly breathes life into the long-running horror series, though, with its use of dim lighting and creepy sounds making it a spooky but ultimately fun game to experience.
Super Mario Odyssey
Nintendo is certainly back with a boom in recent years, with Super Mario Odyssey a clear indication of this. The Mario games on offer are vast, but this one is perhaps one of the most enjoyable and fun game to play from the series. Available on Nintendo Switch, the game allows you to possess all manner of friend and foe whilst wearing your new magic hat called Cappy. The game still possesses the charm and character of the older creations we all know and love, but it has also been innovated to cater for the modern gamer, but in a very attractive and appealing way. Simply put, this is a must-have.
A classic for many gamers, Titanfall has perfect controls, impeccable map design and the gameplay is easy to digest and get to grips with. The second version of the game is available but the original is always the best, isn’t it? With the game being crafted by one of the co-creators of Call of Duty and other key developers behind the Call of Duty franchise, it really is a special creation. Titanfall gives you the freedom to fight your way as both an elite assault Pilot and fast, heavily armored Titan. One of the best games on Xbox One, Titanfall is a ridiculous amount of fun and timeless creation.
If you enjoy destroying demons then you and the Doomslayer have a lot in common. Team up with him as he strives to purge Mars of its infernal denizens. This first-person shooter has linear maps, regenerating health and white-knuckle action that will remind you of past classics. Available on PS4, Doom is considered by many as one of the best games on the platform and certainly a classic.
