Netflix Announced It Is Willing to Continue Production on a Stranger Things Video Game

Last Friday, Telltale Games announced it would be closing, which meant the end of several very exciting projects. The Walking Dead game was a particularly harsh blow as it would conclude the story of Clementine. Now, fans will just have to wonder. At least we have fanfiction!

Stranger Things Game

Netflix’s Stranger Things

Luckily for Stranger Things fans, Netflix might be filling the hole left by Telltale Games for this show. In a statement released to polygon, Netflix stated the willingness to create the video game adaptation of their original show. They are currently exploring options to follow through for fans.

“We are saddened by the news about Telltale Games,” Netflix began in their statement. “They developed many great games in the past and left an incredible mark on the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to live in an interactive medium.”

What We Had

Netflix and Telltale Games announced their partnership last June. It was then they announced Minecraft: Story Mode, a five-episode interactive narrative series. Luckily, as said in their statement, this game will go forward.

They intended the Stranger Things game to have a similar format to The Walking Dead games and other games in the Telltale line up. It would be alike to the others not only in style but in game play as well.

What Is Ahead

So, Minecraft fans have nothing to worry about – your game is still on its way. The Walking Dead fans will be disappointed in that the companies decided to scrap their game. Stranger Things fans are kind of left wondering about what’s in store for them. But, thanks to the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things fans are used to wondering.
