New Supergirl Footage Released!

Good news, Supergirl superfans! CBS has released a new promo for the upcoming show. The 1:15 long video showcases never before seen footage of from future episodes of the show. Watch it below!

The Supergirl pilot finished filming at the end of March, with production for the rest of season one beginning last month. Audiences at San Diego Comic Con were treated to an advance screening of the pilot. CBS also held an event for young girls and their mothers in late July, where lead actress Melissa Benoist surprised the audience during the screening

As the new footage seems to show, we can expect a lot of action from here on out. We’ve got a pretty decent SFX display, with Kara’s ice-breath, heat vision, and invulnerability (lasers! so many lasers!) each getting a chance to show off. There’s also some pretty sweet flying footage, including what appears to be a battle between Kara and the villain revealed at the end of the pilot.

The alien element comes in loud and clear as our villain (likely from the second episode,) comes to us with some kind of ability to open his… face? It’s a hit at parties, sure, but how will it apply to a life of mayhem? We’ll just have to watch and see! I’m also thrilled to see Alex Danvers, Kara’s adoptive older sister, make an appearance. It seems that she and Kara will have at least one sparring scene together, and I. Can’t. Wait.

Fun little thing from the trailer: in the scene where a young boy is led into what seems to be an airplane cabin mixed with, I don’t know, some chrome, and the guy says “Welcome to the future,” the computers read Kord Industries. Whether this means our mystery man is friend, foe, or actually Ted Kord remains to be seen. Same for the guy hanging around Kat Grant. Looking good in burgundy, Cat!

Supergirl premieres on CBS October 26th, 8PM.
