Nichelle Nichols Suffers Stroke

Nichelle NicholsNichelle Nichols, the actress best known for her role as Nyota Uhura on Star Trek was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday night after suffering from a mild stroke.  Sources are saying that the 82-year-old Nichols is awake and resting comfortably as doctors conduct tests to determine the severity of the stroke.

After the loss of Leonard Nimoy and Grace Lee Whitney earlier this year, this life-long Star Trek fan simply isn’t ready to lose another beloved friend.

Everyone here at Word of the Nerd sends our best wishes to Nichelle for a speedy recovery.
