Sorry to report, fans of Nick Fury, but the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t be appearing in the next 2 Avengers movies, nor will he be in Black Panther. Fans aren’t the only ones who’re upset about this revelation either. It seems Samuel L. Jackson himself is more than a bit annoyed at being left out.
When speaking to Yahoo Movies UK, he said,
“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [Captain America: Civil War], I’m not in Avengers 3 and 4. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet.”
Infinity War has finished filming but, the fourth film has just begun production.
That’s not what has Jackson the most upset, however. Black Panther, the highly anticipated film about Wakandan King and Hero, T’Challa, has finished filming and is slated for release in February of 2018. Jackson was never called to appear in the movie, though, despite Black Panther being an Avenger in the comics. Jackson ranted about his absence to Yahoo Movies UK:
“They wouldn’t let me go to Black Panther-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!”
The veteran actor hasn’t been in a Marvel film since 2015, despire having a countract for 9 movies, with only 7 of those fulfilled.
It has been confirmed since the Yahoo Movie UK interview that Nick Fury will appear once more in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, but the rumors circulated before Jackson himself was notified.
“I haven’t signed a contract, haven’t seen a script. I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day, she didn’t say anything. She’s the only person I know that’s actually in the movie. I’ve been rumored to be in several different Marvel movies that I haven’t shown up in, you know?”
Kevin Feige of Marvel let fans at comic-con know that not only will Nick Fury be back, but he’ll have 2 eyes in the movie. Captain Marvel will take place before Iron Man in the Marvel timeline.
