Peter Dinklage in Early Talks for Avengers: Infinity War

Peter Dinklage (who is best known for his role on the popular HBO series Game of Thrones) is in early talks for a role in the upcoming film Avengers: Infinity War, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is not yet known for what role he is being considered, but it is clearly a major role. If he is cast in Avengers: Infinity War, he would also be in the following (currently untitled) Avengers film. Good thing Game of Thrones is wrapping up!

Avengers Infinity WarWho Could Peter Dinklage Be Playing?:

There have been several theories spread about who Peter Dinklage could possibly be playing. One of the more prominent theories figures that he’ll be playing Pip the Troll. Pip the Troll is a hard-drinking, womanizing, thieving troll who was prominent in the comic version of the Infinity War storyline as a companion to a different character crucial to the Infinity War storyline. However, since Rocket Raccoon will be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, I think there’s a good chance the MCU is full up on those kind of jokers. It’s more likely that he’ll be playing  Adam Warlock, to whom Pip the Troll plays sidekick. Adam Warlock is pretty much the savior of the universe in the Infinity War storyline, and a nemesis to Thanos (Josh Brolin). It’s a major enough role where comics fans will complain if he’s not there, big enough to warrant time in both films, and notable enough for Dinklage’s time.

There’s also another fair consideration if one looks back through interviews given by the MCU writers. Christopher Markus (who is co-writing Avengers: Infinity War) once said

“I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK but nobody seems to be on my side at the momentum… I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK. If he came around the corner and you saw him floating there you would be terrified. It would be amazing.”

MODOK (short for Mental Mobile Mechanised Organism Designed Only For Killing) is a villainous character with superhuman intelligence and psionic abilities who appears as a floating head. He doesn’t have any known ties to Thanos or his storyline, so this is likely not the role that Dinklage will be playing.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently scheduled to hit theaters on 4 May 2018.
