Are you still hooked on a feeling? Can’t wait for the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel? Then we’ve got news for you. Variety just learned that actress Pom Klementieff has been cast in a mysterious role. Pom Klementieff is a French actress who is best known for her role in Spike Lee’s Oldboy. She is apparently in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe by way of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2.
James Gunn is expected to return to direct and manage this spaceship. Also expected to return are actors Chris Pratt (Peter Quill, aka Starlord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and David Bautista (Drax). Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) and Vin Diesel (Groot) are also reported to be back as the voices of Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Kevin Feige is producing the movie along with James Gunn. Variety reports that Feige is also writing the latest draft of the movie.
James Gunn, the execs, and the studio started testing women for an undisclosed role and apparently Klementieff seemed to have an edge with all of them, or so insiders claim. It’s also known that Marvel and Gunn wanted to have Matthew McConaughey playing the role of the villain in the very awaited sequel but the actor has supposedly passed on the role. So the search for who to cast in the role is still going strong, although sources say the decision should be made soon.
Honestly it’s a very important decision considering your main character is only as good as your villain. If you have a lackluster villain, people probably won’t get as much excitement out of the movie as they usually would. Production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is expected to start in early 2016.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is currently set to release on May 5th, 2017.
