Marvel fans rejoice! Your un-friendly neighborhood executioner is back! A teaser trailer for The Punisher stand-alone series was released on the tail of The Defenders eight episode premiere season. Ruggedly handsome Jon Bernthal and our favorite red-head next door Deborah Ann Woll return as Frank Castle and Karen Page, bringing Ben Barnes and Ebon Moss Bachrach into the mix. We remember Frank Castle making quite the impression on Hell’s Kitchen in Daredevil Season 2, enough to have a growing fan base. With the growing success of the Marvel Netflix line of programming, we can expect this show to do well. The Punisher as a character did not get much development in Daredevil, so the release of the series should grant our newest vigilante some much-needed character development.
Meet the New Guys
We know some things about our returning duo, Jon is a Walking Dead alum and Deborah from True Blood. And we have seen them in action as their characters. What about the new cast mates? Ben Barnes (Billy Russo) has an impressive resume. This UK transplant was most recently in Westworld, one of the breakout series released in the last year. Another notable role is his stint as Prince Caspian in 2 of the Chronicles of Narnia films. His filmography shows that he has the versatility to work with any genre, so we can rest assured he will fit right in with the chaos that Frank has waiting for him. His character, Billy Russo, is slated as the Punisher’s nemesis in Punisher: War Zone lore.
Ebon Moss Bachrach (David Lieberman) has an impressive resume as well. His most recent role was Desi in the hit show Girls but has had other feature film and series run. His character is slated as an ally in The Punisher lore, so it would be interesting to see if the teamwork chemistry will work between their characters.
What do you think? Are you excited to see the latest addition to the Marvel Netflix lineup? Do you expect any MCU movie easter eggs to be referenced? Tell us in the comments!
