Resident Evil Village Scares Us Good
Not since Twilight has the internet gone crazy for a sexy vampire. That’s right, Capcom’s Resident Evil Village Maiden is breaking the internet and hearts. It might even be a bigger deal than the Bernie Sanders meme, and I’m here for it!
Let’s get this out of the way: I was not one of the lucky few to pull myself a PlayStation 5 (got one in my cart once). That means I have not had a chance to play Maiden. But I just watched Jacksepticeye’s quick playthrough and, yeah, this looks amazing! So take anything I say about the demo portion with a grain of salt. So let’s get into it!
First Look at Resident Evil Village
Maiden is the PS5 exclusive demo that gives players their first look at Village and its inhabitants. You play as one unlucky soul who’s trapped in Castle Dimitrescu and trying to escape. Even with all the impressive graphics from the next-generation console, Sony’s 3D audio, and amazing gameplay that this demo exhibits—the tall vampire lady, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, steals the show!
With Capcom’s success with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, they are going back to the first-person Survival Horror genre with Resident Evil 8: Village. From the looks of the demo, it seems to have identical gameplay mechanics and overall feel. What stands out the most are the visuals and setting. It seems like such a departure from the Resident Evil games of the past and even Resident Evil 7, with introducing what seems to be a more gothic feel to the franchise.
I’m not typically one for the horror game genre, but the new setting for the latest installment of Resident Evil contains vampires and werewolves and that’s right up my alley. My first impression of Maiden is that it reminds me of the P.T. demo on PlayStation 4 for the Silent Hill game that never was, but, you know, without the tall vampire lady. I was too scared to play that demo and watched a friend play it. At least this time my excuse is I don’t have a PS5.
Can’t Escape Lady Alcina Dimitrescu
Just like in the demo, no one can escape the grasp of Lady Alcina Dimitrescu or, better known to the internet, “the tall vampire lady”. Seriously, as soon as I opened up YouTube, Resident Evil Village was trending in the gaming section with playthroughs of the demo with titles like “STEP ON ME TALL LADY” or “Search for the Big Woman”. Twitter was flooded with memes of the tall vampire lady. Cosplayers were already posting photos as the new character. So instead of trying to escape her grasp, let’s just give in.
That’s right, get ready for the memes, fan art, and amazing cosplays!

Oh No, She Got Me…
I hope she doesn’t catch me and take me on a nice date. She’ll probably just suck my blood. She’s a vampire. Both sound nice though!
