Camila Mendes Could Be in Black Widow

Casting announcements and speculations continue to run rampant for Black Widow’s solo debut in the MCU. It seems Camila Mendes or “Veronica Lodge” as us Riverdale fans (RIP Luke Perry) know her is up for a minor role in the film. Comicbook.com reports:

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is reportedly eyeing Riverdale star Camila Mendes for a “small supporting role,” according to That Hashtag Show. The site claims Disney-owned Marvel is “very early in the process” of a search for an actress of color aged 15-25, and is now compiling a list of actresses for the unidentified role.

Since being in development there has been a ton of speculation about Black Widow. The biggest one is that it would be rated R. This has subsequently been shot down. Recently we have had a ton of casting news about the spy Avenger’s solo debut. It looks like they are looking for another female lead and Emma Watson has been rumored for that role.

The most interesting casting news is for a lead villain role. From Comicbook.com via That Hashtag Show: “Hashtag recently reported the Cate Shortland-directed Black Widow is on the hunt for its lead villain, with Moonlight star Andre Holland said to be in the running. The role is only described as a ‘tough, dangerous and mysterious villain,’ and is expected to be filled by ‘a Black British or African actor’ between the ages of 30-45.”

Could this possibly be hinting at the Ultimate version of Taskmaster being the main villain? Taskmaster is an incredibly cool villain and I would love to see him in the MCU. There is a lot going on in the MCU at the moment with Captain Marvel debuting and then Avengers: Endgame coming at the end of April. Who knows what route Marvel will take?

Waiting Game

Black Widow is still in developing and casting phases so we do not know really anything about it. Camila Mendes may not even get the part. We will have to wait at least a year before the debut. At least by that time, we should know who is in the movie. Do you have any speculations about the Black Widow movie? Let us know in the comments!
