Robert Downey Jr. Wants to See Ironheart Hit the MCU
Ever since the epic release of Endgame, fans have been wondering where the franchise would go next. Robert Downey Jr. has weighed in on what he wants to see happen. And what exactly, is that? He wants to see Ironheart come to the MCU.
Iron Man and Ironheart
Over the weekend Robert Downey Jr. was attending a gala—not that out of the norm, really. What makes this moment standout was his public statement and support for a specific character. Eve Ewing reported (and tweeted) that Robert Downey Jr. wants to see the MCU pick up Ironheart’s character.
The real story here is that @RobertDowneyJr said publicly in a room full of people that #Ironheart should be in the MCU. I went straight back to the press area afterward and was like YOU ALL HEARD IT, WRITE THAT DOWN https://t.co/WoursjnRdW

She is one of those characters that you either love or hate. She first made her appearance in Invincible Iron Man, but now she has a series of her own. Understandably, that series has been named Ironheart.
Riri Williams is the face behind the mask. She’s brilliant, driven, and has so many features in common with Tony Stark. That’s what drew these two together, actually. In the comics, there’s a short period where she steps in for Tony Stark.
There are a few different ways they could go with introducing Ironheart into the MCU. They could run with Riri Williams as Ironheart. It’d require the introduction of a new character, which isn’t exactly a bad thing at this moment. She could either be introduced in her own series, or get thrown right into a major Avengers event.
The other option would be to give an established character the Ironheart mantle. The character in the best position for this? Shuri, of course. She’s brilliant, stubborn, and she obviously knows her way around her tech. And it’d be fun to see more of Shuri and all of her energy.
There are probably other ways they could incorporate Ironheart, but those are the first two ideas that come to mind here. No matter how Ironheart shows up in the MCU—assuming she does at all—I’m looking forward to seeing it happen.
