Wheel of Time Has Its Lead
Amazon’s adaptation of Wheel of Time official has its lead cast in Rosamund Pike. Pike is known for her roles in Die Another Day, Jack Reacher, Gone Girl, and many other films. The show is set to start production in September of this year. It is based on the Wheel of Time book series, which runs through 14 novels that started in 1990 and ended in 2013.

Comicbook.com has some details on the show noting the September production date and a film setting in Prague. They also have the official synopsis of the show from Amazon Prime:
“The fantasy epic is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine believes that one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it. The series draws on numerous elements of European and Asian culture and philosophy, most notably the cyclical nature of time found in Buddhism and Hinduism.”
As I also noted above, the Wheel of Time book series spans over 14 novels (plus a prequel novel and two companion books). Robert Jordan died in 2007 while writing the twelfth volume of the series. Luckily he left notes and information about his ides for the series for another writer to end the series. Brandon Sanderson picked up with the twelfth volume and finished off the series.
The people behind adapting the series for Amazon’s streaming service have their hands full with developing this series. Are you excited for a television adaptation of The Wheel of Time? What are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
