No Night Nurse For Punisher
The Punisher, the newest Netflix/Marvel series, recently wrapped up filming in New York City. The Daredevil spinoff adventures of Frank Castle is highly anticipated with fans. They wonder if the Punisher’s adventures will have some familiar faces along for the ride. Well, we now know one will not be showing up. Rosario Dawson recently revealed that her character, Claire Temple, will not be appearing in the series. Speaking with Collider in an interview for her latest film, Unforgettable, Dawson was pretty candid about why:
At the end of the day, it’s really hard to get all of those casts together. For The Defenders, it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen. I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way.
In short, it seems that due to scheduling conflicts between Defenders and The Punisher, Dawson was not able to cameo in the Punisher series.
Netflix’s Nick Fury
Dawson’s Claire Temple has served as the connective tissue for all the Marvel/Netflix series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Appearing early on in the first season of Daredevil, she has gained more prominence and character development over the course of the four shows so far. Starting as a hesitant nurse rescuing Daredevil from her apartment’s dumpster, she has since been a confidant to Jessica Jones and a love interest to Luke Cage. Quitting her job at Metro General in the wake of a scandal in Daredevil Season 2, Claire has been allowed to fight back against evil alongside Danny Rand in Iron Fist. No word on what role she will play in The Defenders as yet, but it is likely she won’t be on the sidelines.
While it is a shame that Dawson won’t return for The Punisher, it’s very likely she won’t be too far away from another adventure in the Marvel Universe.
The Defenders premieres on Netflix later this summer. The Punisher has yet to announce a premiere date.
