Need a special place where you can indulge your love of graphic novels? Then you’re in luck; Sequential has recently launched in American markets. Sequential is an iPad app market place for everything graphic novel.
This free app from Tokyo based software company Panel Nine, features the work of some of the most prolific and respected writers around like, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Hannah Eaton, and countless others. Currently many of the titles available are from British publishing houses, with several American publishers due to join soon. This should provide a great way to discover new titles that you may not have heard of otherwise.
What makes this app different from others is that it only carries graphic novels that are geared towards adults. This allows you to find a more mature title more easily than if you were to go a comic book shop or another similar app. In essence that is the point of Sequential; to separate graphic novels from what people think of when they think of comic books, and to bring graphic novels to a wider literary audience than just the comic book reader. Panel Nine’s CEO Russell Willis had the following to say:
“We believe that SEQUENTIAL is the digital future of graphic novels and sequential art. We’re working with the world’s leading graphic novel publishers and creators to expand the market for one of the world’s most under-appreciated art forms — and rather than go the tired old commercial route with the touting of superheroes, a genre that has unwittingly tainted and held back the art form for too long, we stand for graphic novels that feature accessible, intelligent, entertaining, life-enhancing storytelling at its visual and verbal best – and haven’t been designed just for geeks.”
