Entertainment Weekly just announced that Natalie Alyn will be arriving in Gotham in the show’s sophomore season. Alyn, who is most famous for being on The Goldbergs, will be playing Silver St. Cloud, who in the Batman comics is a member of Gotham high society and is a reoccurring love interest for Bruce Wayne, until her unfortunate demise in Kevin Smith’s unfinished Batman: The Widening Gyre.
According to EW, Alyn’s Silver is also an orphan, and will be a love interest for Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) due to their similar tragedies. She is being is being raised by her uncle, Theo Galavan, who is also running for mayor of Gotham against the incumbent, Aubrey James (Richard Kind). Bruce will look to Galavan as a possible father figure (one of many that he will find in the comics), while Silver is described as “she’s described as having a heart beating with dark intent.” What this could mean has yet to be explained, and is intentionally cryptic. It won’t be the first time, or the last, that Bruce Wayne will lose his heart and head to a Gotham bad girl. Could it also mean a rivalry between Silver and Selina “Cat” Kyle (Camren Bicondova)?
Gotham has been a major hit on the Fox Network in its debut season. It was one of the most highly anticipated shows last season, and has met critical and fan acclaim for its takes on the denizens of Gotham City, especially its villains such as Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Riddler (Cory Michael Smith). Following the adventures of Detective Jim Gordon just after the Wayne murders, events will unfold that will shape the destiny of Gordon, the people he comes across, and especially a young boy named Bruce Wayne….
Word of the Nerd will keep an eye on this story as it develops. Gotham returns to Fox for season 2 on September 21st, at 8pm.
