Space Jam Star Gets Slammed by NBA’s Finest

Space Jam 2 Feature

Foul Ball for Space Jam Leading Man

Basketball star-turned-actor Lebron James has found himself alone in a court full of toons. The curious case of Space Jam 2 sees Lebron potentially going solo. His endeavor to find like-minded basketball pros, who might like to take part, has yielded few results thus far. Much like the original movie, the recruitment has seen more celebs stepping forward than athletes.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst commented on what Lebron has been going through, stating:

“In all honesty, he’s been recruiting players to come and try to be in Space Jam with him this summer and he hasn’t been able to close some of those deals. He’s recruiting for his movie as well as he is for the Lakers.”

This begs the question of which stars has Lebron approached? Brian quickly addressed this when he assured that every top player in the NBA had been contacted.

Given the pedigree of Lebron in his recent stints in television and film, his devotion to this particular project has garnered much support from eager fans. There is an itch of nostalgia for another slam dunk from this charismatic up-and-comer of the acting world.

Dribbling Around the Competition

The original Space Jam saw the bizarre blend of Looney Tunes and fast-paced sport becoming an unexpected box office hit. It featured a heavy range of talent from the basketball court. The lack of stars assigned to this one could lead to various cameos from non-affiliates of the sport. This could see Lebron calling in some favors. His previous work dictates that he is within a circle of comedy actors, that would not be out of place in a wacky world of tunes. We may see Lebron’s costar of Trainwreck, Bill Hader, stepping into a pair of Jordans. Alternatively, a known celebrity fan of the Lakers, John Cena, who also appeared in 2015’s Trainwreck, wouldn’t look out of place next to Bugs Bunny.

Wherever the ball may land, we can be sure that this will be one to keep an eye on. The mix of animation and reality is sure to make a splash on the big screen for young fans and old alike.

Lebron himself was quoted as saying:

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel. How empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams.”

The Universe Is Waiting

A dream come true for families and the big star himself. Production is to begin mid-June and Space Jam 2 is set to speed into theaters across the galaxy on July 16, 2021.
