Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Wins

Into the Spider-verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a winner!

As CBR reports Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has won the Best Animated Film from the New York Film Critics Circle. This is pretty major as it helps increase the already great critical response from the film, but also and maybe more importantly CBR says “the last three movies that won this award went on to claim Best Animated Film at the Academy Awards. Last year, Coco took both awards, in 2016 Zootopia did the double, and the year before that the honors went to Inside Out.” If you were not already hyped for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse then this should definitely get you excited for the film!

A World of Spiders

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse gives the starring role to Mile Morales. This is the first time the character has been featured in a film on the big screen. It is not only Miles Morales big screen debut but the film gives debuts to a multitude of other spider characters as well. Some fears that this film might be overstuffed with new characters or another boring origin story has been shut down by its praise.

Though Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse does not come out until 12-14-18. Early favorable critical response has only helped the film build up steam. People who were lucky enough to see the film early have sung its praises. Some say it may be the best Spider-man film to date. For now, it also holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes as well.

Conclusion

It is not long until Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is released to the masses. The only things I can see causing it trouble is number 1 the hype. When things are hyped up this much sometimes it is easy to build expectations that the film could never live up to. The second thing is competition. Only a week after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premiers the long-awaited Aquaman solo-film will debut which has also garnered a good critical response. If that wasn’t enough Mary Poppins Returns and Bumblebee will also premiere the same week as Aquaman. That is some big bold competition Spider-Man has to deal with only a week after premiering!
