More Spider-People for the Spider-Verse
On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the world was exposed to something. Something good, something bad? It really depends on the person. Something humanity can’t come back from. And that thing is John Mulaney as Spider-Ham. The second official trailer for Sony’s Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse has dropped. With an emphasis placed on the multiverse aspect of the plot, as explained with fries, the video gives some peeks at some of the Spider-People (and animals) that will show up in the film. Check it out below!
More About the Movie
The film will star Jake Johnson as Peter Parker; Shameil Moore as Miles Morales; Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy; Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker; Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir; and of course John Mulaney as Spider-Ham. The trailer also features three villains from the rogues’ gallery: Scorpion, Kingpin, and the Prowler, who in the comics is actually the uncle of Miles Morales.
The film will release on December 14, 2018. The official synopsis reads:
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
A screenplay from Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman. The movie is also being directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman. Taking place outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this will be Sony’s first original Spider-Man project in some time. The last one was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was in 2014. The reviews for their other spider-themed project, Venom, coming up with a release on this Friday, October 5, 2018, have been mixed. But time will tell where this animated feature will rank.
