With Star Wars: The Force Awakens predicted to be one of the biggest movies of all time, everyone wants to get in on the success. The movie is tracking for a record-breaking opening, so it only makes sense that the majority of the pop culture community is looking to associate itself with Star Wars. In addition to other movies wanting to gain exposure from the film’s opening, media outlets all over the nation are releasing exclusive Star Wars content.
In addition to Empire and Vanity Fair Star Wars covers, Entertainment Weekly has released four magazine covers (gotta collect ‘em all!) Check out Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and the C-3PO/R2D2 covers below.
Unless they are purposefully misleading us (which is completely within Abrams’ capabilities), it looks as though Han/Rey/Finn are our leads and that is wonderful. Whether it be Star Wars or Hollywood as a whole, diversity has always been an issue in the entertainment industry. It is great that Lucasfilm (under the direction of one of the most successful female producers of all time- Kathleen Kennedy) has recognized the diversity problem and is addressing it head on.
Like the stellar character posters released, these covers look great. While the international trailer gave us our first look at C-3PO, it is great to see that he is joining in with all this Force Awakens marketing fun. The standout amongst the covers has to be Han Solo, simply for its similarity to the classic Han Solo iconography-
