Crumbs About Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Vanity Fair recently did a cover story on the upcoming Star Wars trilogy finale: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As part of the story, they contracted Annie Leibovitz to take pictures of the set. We’re analyzing them for plot hints! Check out the photos below!
Although the cast is fairly close-lipped, some information can be discerned from these pictures and recalled from earlier updates. There are three big character returns: Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and Leia Organa (through old footage of Carrie Fisher). All three of these are surprising in their own way. Lando Calrissian has not been mentioned in this current trilogy, although a younger version of him appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Luke Skywalker apparently died in the last trilogy. Carrie Fisher, sadly, passed away in 2016, and General Leia Organa appears through the inclusion of saved footage. There is also a theory that Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) will show up, due to a trailer cackle, but there’s been no official confirmation.
New Faces As Well As Old
In addition, several new people joined the cast, although their characters have not been officially announced. Keri Russell (The Americans), Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), and Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth) comprise this category. This update revealed all of their character names. It turns out that these three actors’ characters span the good and evil spectrum. Naomi Ackie will be playing hero-adjacent Jannah. Keri Russell will be playing the rogue Zorri Bliss. Richard E. Grant will be playing villain General Pryde. However, all of what we know about these characters are their names, their actors, and what they look like. Small pickings, if I have to be honest.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth film in the Skywalker Saga, will be in theaters on 20 December 2019.
