James Wan is Adapting Salem’s Lot
Yet another one of Stephen King’s novels is getting an adaptation. This time around it’s Salem’s Lot.
Salem’s Lot is one of Stephen King‘s classics. It was originally published back in 1975, believe it or not. The novel follows two people – a young boy and a man – as they try to survive the evils within the small township. And it all started thanks to the man, a writer, wanting to write about the abandoned mansion in his hometown. It sounds like a perfect beginning to a Stephen King story, doesn’t it?
The novel is well known, thanks to it being King’s take on vampires.
Salem’s Lot has been adapted twice before. Both adaptations were TV miniseries, and the first came out back in 1979. The second adaptation is a bit more recent, having come out in 2004. The 1979 version is special for a very unique reason. It was the first TV miniseries to ever be made out of Stephen King’s works. And look at how far his works have gone since then.
The adaptation, like the others before it, has made a slight change to the title. But that’s hardly a big deal. The rest of the news is much more exciting, we promise! For example, the adaptation is going to make it to the big screen this time around.
James Wan and Gary Dauberman are the producers for the adaptation. Unfortunately, we don’t know a lot more about Salem’s Lot other than that. But we are hopeful that this one will faithfully follow the source material.
James Wan is well known for his horror movies. He’s been behind projects like Saw, The Conjuring, and the Conjuring 2. So it’s safe to say that he’ll be fully capable of making sure that the movie stays true to the disturbing tones of the novel.
Gary Dauberman is also well known for his horror movies, and he’s already tackled one of Stephen King’s most loved novels, IT. So if you’re a fan of the most recent movie adaptation, then chances are you’ll want to keep your eyes on this one as well.
