Super Bowl LII Forecasts the Best Films and Shows of 2018

Whether the Super Bowl means rooting for your favorite team or simply getting to indulge in your favorite food, nearly everyone agrees that the Super Bowl ads are always something to look forward to. This year, amidst the rap battles and multiple Winter Olympics reminders, we got a look at this year’s hottest new movies and TV shows, one of them airing as early as last night. Here is a list of what you can look forward to this year.

The first film in this lineup comes immediately after the Eagles’ historic Super Bowl win. In this Netflix original, scientists must try and solve the energy crisis back home as they travel into space to test a controversial device that ends up throwing them into an alternate reality. The biggest fanfare for this movie comes due to its release being the same day as its Super Bowl trailer.

Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.

February 27

USA Network takes on the unsolved murders of Tupac and Biggie in this limited series beginning February 27. With new clues and new theories, we may get one step closer to finding out what happened to these two famous rappers.

Red Sparrow

March 2

In Red Sparrow, we get a darker, more mature glimpse at Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence plays an undercover “Sparrow” who uses her many talents of seduction and combat as a Russian intelligence agent. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jason Matthews.


April 22

While not a movie, this is a long-awaited second season to the highly acclaimed HBO series. It will be interesting to see where things pick up from the explosive season one finale as the hosts finally begin to take their world for themselves. We can only guess that this season will be just as gory, if not gorier than the first season. As Dolores says in the preview, “…this world deserves to die.”

A Quiet Place

April 6

A family lives in utter isolation, afraid of a mysterious evil. With a malevolent shadow that constantly follows them and attacks at the slightest sound, this movie will give a new meaning to the term “silent film.” The movie stars John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

Avengers: Infinity War

May 4

The highly anticipated first part of the two-part conclusion to the adventures of our beloved Avengers. The preview leaves viewers wondering which of our large cast of characters we will lose against the evil Thanos.

These questions and more can only be answered on May 25th.

In this action thriller, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays a former FBI agent who must save his family from the very top of the tallest building in the world. The 224th floor to be exact. With top-notch security on every single floor, we are sure to be on the edge of our seats watching The Rock scramble to rescue his loved ones.

Summer 2018

Lovers of Stephen King rejoice! Hulu will be releasing a new series this summer focusing on the fictional town of Castle Rock which will intertwine multiple Stephen King short stories into one gloriously creepy show.
