Superman Returns…To The Small Screen
Superman is coming back to television. Tyler Hoechlin will be reprising his performance as the Man of Steel for DCTV’s winter crossover event. Hoechlin originally played the role on Supergirl when that show originally jumped ship from CBS to the CW. However, this time, Hoechlin will be around as Clark Kent and his alter ego for all parts of the crossover event. The event starts December 9th and runs through the 11th. It begins with The Flash that Sunday night, followed by Arrow the next day and concluding with Supergirl on Tuesday. The Flash and Supergirl will be switching time slots for the event. But that’s not the biggest news to come out of Deadline‘s report.
Meet Superman’s Better Half
Not only will there be one Daily Planet star reporter on hand, there will be two. Lois Lane will be taking part in the crossover event, with the role yet to be cast. In an interview, Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner, Supergirl‘s executive producers, said “We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and an amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”
The crossover event will also feature Ruby Rose’s debut as Kate Kane, aka Batwoman. With two cousins already teaming up to fight crime, we have to ask…where’s Kate’s cousin? Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, seems to be a no-show. Despite constant references to the Waynes or Gotham throughout the DCTV-verse, the Dark Knight has yet to appear. Of course, this might be due to a certain Bruce Wayne-focused series on a different network. However, if Superman can show up on Supergirl, it won’t be surprising if the Caped Crusader shows up later on in the Batwoman spinoff planned for 2019. Batman may also show up in the Titans show on DC Universe.
The crossover event of the winter begins December 9th on the CW.
