Deadly Class Trailer Released at San Diego Comic-Con
The trailers for new and returning television shows just keep on coming. Included in this collection of trailers is Syfy‘s new coming-of-age science fiction series Deadly Class. Check out the trailer below!
Deadly Class follows students at King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts, which teaches outcast children to be deadly killers. This isn’t much of a surprise, given the school’s and the series’ name. Specifically, the series will follow Marcus Lopez Arguello as he’s invited and becomes accustomed to the school. The TV series’ timeline begins in 1987, and the school itself is in San Francisco. The first trailer shows a heavy influence by that aesthetic, and also features impressive action sequences.
Deadly Class is an adaptation of an Image Comics series of the same name written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Wesley Craig. The comic series began in 2014 and is still ongoing. The series is one of a few examples where Syfy is turning to graphic novels for content. Other recent examples include the dearly departed Dark Matter, fellow summer series Wynonna Earp, and last season’s Happy!. Although those four selections don’t seem to have much in common, it makes one wonder what the future of the Syfy channel will look like.
Deadly Class will star Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, and Maria Gabriela de Faria. The Russo brothers, best known for directing several of Marvel’s most recent films, are executive producers for the series.
The first season of the new show Deadly Class will air on the Syfy Channel at some point in 2019. It is not clear how many episodes the first season will have.
