A New GOT Prequel Series, Tales of Dunk and Egg, in the Works

HBO’s love of Game of Thrones continues as a new adaptation is in the works. This time, it’s revolving around the prequel story known as Tales of Dunk and Egg.

To date, George R.R. Martin has released three different novellas set in the Tales of Dunk and Egg series. They are, in order of release date: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. Though if you don’t want to hunt them all down, you can simply pick up A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which collects all three. As the title of the series suggests, this series follows two main characters, Dunk and Egg. They lived before the times of Game of Thrones—by about ninety years.

Progress

This prequel should not be confused with House of the Dragon, the other prequel series that is currently in progress over at HBO. There’s quite a gap in terms of production between the two. At least, at the moment.

So far, all we know about the adaptation for Tales of Dunk and Egg is that it is in the works. There have been no names attached to the project, though we are hopeful that this is something that can change in the near future.

As with any show that doesn’t have an official press release, one should take this news with a grain of salt. While it does feel likely that HBO will opt to follow the success of Game of Thrones with several other series—they are currently not making official announcements, or even commenting on it. Nor is George R.R. Martin, for that matter. So for the moment, all of his fans must merely hope, and wait for news.
