Season 2 of Titans Confirmed at SDCC
Titans GO! Fans of the live-action DC series Titans; rejoice. Robin(s), Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy are back! Announced this past weekend at SDCC, the sophomore season is slated for a return this fall, as per Deadline,
“DC Universe’s Titans, the first original live-action series to launch on the subscription service, has set its Season 2 premiere date: Friday, September 6. The trailer unveiled Saturday at Comic-Con during the streamer’s two-hour event at the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton Bayfront.”
Now, for those not familiar with the smash-hit show, Titans follows Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) as he tries to begin a new life away from Batman and without being Robin. It shows the dark, ugly side of the ‘Boy Wonder’ as he battles as his own inner demons. By day, Dick is a member of the Detroit City Police Department. By night, he’s violent, bloodthirsty, vigilante; slowly slipping into the abyss.
New additions to the cast of Titans were also confirmed over the weekend, according to Deadline.
“Game of Thrones star Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne, Esai Morales as Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke the Terminator, and Natalie Gumede as Mercy Graves, the bodyguard of Lex Luthor, are also aboard for the second season.”
This is incredibly great news for fans of the DC Universe. Iain Glen is a phenomenal actor and an outstanding choice to play an aging and decaying Bruce Wayne/Batman. It’ll be exciting to see just how he chooses to portray the character – and how much we get to see him on screen as well! And yes, Esai Morales is a near-perfect cast to play Slade Wilson/Deathstroke. But what I’m looking forward to most; what I’m hoping to see more than anything else this season – is Nightwing. It’s my prediction that by the end of the second season we will have seen two crucial events take place: the death of Jason Todd and the birth of Nightwing.
