About the 2020 #WotNReadingChallenge
Welcome to the third annual #WotNReadingChallenge! For those of you who have missed the last two go-rounds, the #WotNReadingChallenge is a 12-book prompt-based challenge that we do over the year. All of the prompts this year are brand new (if you think a previous year’s prompts are cooler, no one’s going to stop you from going back). Previously, there was one prompt a month for a total of 12 prompts. This year, there are only 11 prompts, but the number of books required to complete the challenge is still 12. Finally, it doesn’t matter what type of book you choose to complete this set of prompts. No one is going to go to your house and accuse you of not trying. Feel free to read comics, ebooks, audiobooks, children’s books, or whatever else strikes your fancy. The library is your oyster.
The 2020 #WotNReadingChallenge
January: A book from a celebrity book club
February: A book with a one-word title
March: A hopepunk book
April: A book featuring royalty
May: A book featuring Sherlock Holmes that was not written by Arthur Conan Doyle
June: A book with a transgender or nonbinary protagonist
Summer (July/August): A book by both halves of a writing couple
September: A classic novel
October: A book featuring an epidemic
November: A book combining two genres
December: A locked-room mystery
As is true every year, you do not have to read the prompts in this order. This is just when the suggestion articles are going to be posted. Additionally, you can skip any prompt you want. I understand that I am not the ultimate arbiter of taste. Finally, if you’re worried about having only one prompt for two of the three summer months, there might be a surprise in August.
