It is the golden age of television. The number of fantastic shows available is overwhelming. As such, many quality shows receive cancellation notice due to the sheer amount of choice on the market. However, sometimes a show is saved by fervent fan activism. Recently, fans saved Lucifer and The Expanse. One of these beloved shows is The Clone Wars. The show, set between Episodes II and III of the Star Wars prequels, follows the adventures of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker during the titular Clone Wars.

The show ran four seasons on Cartoon Network and was abruptly canceled. In 2014, Netflix released a 13-episode sixth season. Although they let the show come to a conclusion, fans wanted more. Since season 6, fans of The Clone Wars began a hashtag campaign to save the show. Seemingly, the hashtag #SaveTheCloneWars fell on deaf ears. Until Comic-Con 2018.

During the panel for The Clone Wars‘ tenth anniversary, Dave Filoni announced the show’s seventh season. The image of a clone trooper helmet came with a simple message: #CloneWarsSaved. Filoni discussed the show’s revival and mentioned wanting to give a gift to the fans on the tenth anniversary: “We got together and we thought, if there is one thing we could give you what would it be? So here you go.”

What We Know About The Clone Wars Reboot

Obviously, the reboot was just announced, but there are a few details available. Although there is no release date, the seventh season is slated to air on Disney’s new streaming platform. Furthermore, the new series deals with Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Order and becoming a rogue warrior. Ahsoka is now an integral part of the Star Wars mythos. She’s appeared in Star Wars Rebels, and even pops up in the tabletop game Imperial Assault. So, the opportunity to spend more time with a beloved character in the hands of a beloved creator is always a good thing. Filoni and company put together a short teaser clip for the show.
